Has anyone else done this?

Im thinking of starting my campaign with Ambrosius' invasion and I wondered what peoples thoughts on this were...

I tried that and they all finished killed in the Night of the Long Knives... most of the players found that really unpleasant since their heirs were not any near at age. More than that I found it difficult since they acted too chivalrously considered the times.
Now I am starting a new campaign, with not all the players, alas, which is set in 481 in Malahaut at Eburacum.

the night of the long knives happens before Ambrosius' invasion so it wouldn't be much of an issue, and chivalry wouldnt be a problem either... the fashion has to come from somewhere.
