Exile Sons is a play-by-post campaign for the revised fifth edition of King Arthur Pendragon. Events in-game shall largely conform to those outlined in the Great Pendragon Campaign. Two additional supplements will be used, namely the Book Of The Manor and the Book Of Knights And Ladies.

Quick update: a slot has opened due to player inactivity, plus I am recruiting interested parties to play occasional NPC guest roles.

An occasional guest spot?l Now that I probably could handle, given time to prepare.

I would like to put my name forward for a permanent role. It would be nice to get to play the game that I enjoy running so much.

One thought I have is to gather a small collection of people not otherwise involved in the game to control the various factions in each Period and determine their activities. There are two excellent articles over on the Treasure Tables website which cover just that: World Powers And Big-Picture Plotlines (http://www.treasuretables.org/2006/11/world-powers-and-big-picture-plotlines) and The Care And Feeding Of Evil Overlords (http://www.treasuretables.org/2006/12/the-care-and-feeding-of-evil-overlords).

That is an idea I have often touted in the past - mainly in connection with the Uther and Anarchy Periods - I always thought it would be good for others to play the parts of the various Saxon lords off-screen so that they are truly aggressive against the players and take up their own sense of identity and reality.

Hey Luke,

You certainly may. I'm currently deciding the sorts of factions I want represented by evil overlords in the Uther Period. As the Saxons kings' activities are for the most part laid out, I'm thinking the ideal course would be to establish factions within the court of Salisbury and among its neighbors. A good example of a neighboring faction is the Steward of Levcomagus. A second could be the Ladies of the Lake. Internal factions could center around any of the important knights or ladies listed in the "Your Home" section of the core rulebook, or other individuals who should have influence... such as the other officers and any major landholders.

Anyone still entertaining the notion of volunteering as an evil overlord should read the article posted here (http://rdonoghue.blogspot.com/2011/04/getting-villainy-done.html), by Rob Donoghue of Spirit Of The Century, The Dresden Files and Leverage fame. First-rate suggestion for breaking down villains' goals into a concrete series of actions. Best to contact me about this over on RPOL, at the link mentioned above and replicated here (http://rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=45105).

I may also have a way for lurkers to participate. I am using Whimsy Cards in this campaign, and could provide them to lurkers who could then use them to kibbitz. Not certain yet what limits I'd place on their use, probably need to limit it to a single play per game year and less for immediate impact on the player-knights as grander events. Or perhaps the lurkers could play cards on the evil overlords, so they are as subject to the whims of fate as the player-knights.
