I'm sure that there are detailed rules for this in the Book of the Manor but I'm just wondering if anyone has a quick and dirty way of representing maintenance on castles and fortifications.

I don't want to throw that much more complexity into my winter phase but if there was some simple rule then I'd be keen to roll with it. Would something like £1 per 10DV per year or loose 1DV be about right? Or do people generally just not worry about it?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

It seems that in historical times people just ignored it until it was time, and then built like crazy to make up for their negligence. It's astonishing to see how flimsy some defenses were. When William Marshall attacked Lincoln (I believe it was) they had blocked a gate with stacked rocks that were pushed over by hand.

Then just deal with the rules that require huge payments to fix them.
:D
Ha, as if PCs do what normal people do!

OK, someone will surely chime in with a simple formula.
OR, watch for the upcoming PDF release of the BOOK OF THE MANOR 2 that has some upgrades for the old system
