Hello everyone,

I have one player who decided to play Pictish Knight, in my campaign in Malahaut.
He asked me if he can "specialize" his PC in Grappling techniques. I don't really know which effect will this have on the play.

What do you suggest me to do?

Setbacks I can see:

- No lance charge;
- No combat from horseback;
- Fuddled mechanics when he will fight someone armed... plese give me some insight on this!

Advantages:
- A certain flavour
- ???

Grappling is a technique rather than a combat skill in fifth edition. You roll against half your DEX to grab and hold your opponent, and can potentially fling him to the ground and unhelm him in a later round. Knightly, unlike Brawling, and a last recourse when you've lost your primary weapon and no squire is on hand to pass you another. Very easy way to end up dead. Especially if you're a Pict who eschews most armor.
