This weekend a player rolled up a new character according to BoK&L and received the Cymric Luck Item of 'Sword Belt: Grants automatic DEX Rolls to Stay on Feet'.

Should he die would his heir gain this belt plus the benefit of an additional Luck Table Roll?

No. He would get the belt. That is his family's inheritance

It's not well written but each family ought to have one "luck item" from the table
(or if they are brothers, two; or cousins, etc.)

My intent was to give the player knights something interesting
FOR THEIR FAMILY LINE
If you lose the item, and generate a new character, his family item is off int he hands of the Saxons who killed Dad, or something.

If you have Knights & Ladies, there are luck tables for each culture, giving more varied results. They make good sources of quirky treasures for players to capture from opponents. Plus, ways to get new enemies, as the family of the knight you grabbed them from comes after you in later generations.

It would be easy to make them too common this way though - I'd only offer one or two up as a potential prize every decade or so.

Which would make for a great adventure to recover the family item.
