View Full Version : Squire's MIA, Now What?

So in our first real test of the system this weekend, my PK lost his squire in Round 3. In Round 4 we were contemplating a Withdraw maneuver for a new Charge in Round 5. But, wait—no squire. Now what happens? Should the unit tactics be modified based on the PK status? Or, if the Unit Commander orders another charge, does the lanceless knight just charge with his sword?

If your knight has no squire then he has no squire.

This doesn't affect how unit tactics play out, but will obviously affect the knight's ongoing effectiveness as the battle proceeds - no chance of getting an easy remount if unhorsed, no weapon replacements, no-one on hand to casevac the knight if he gets into serious trouble, take charge of a prisoner etc etc.

If you want squire service restored then either:

Get to the back of the battle and look for your lost squire
Be rich enough to have more than one squire in your following

Failing that, then you have to wait until the end of the battle to see if your squire survived the day and returns to your service.

Thanks, silburnl. I understand the way the Squire rules work, but I wasn't sure about what happened if another Charge was ordered and you have no lance and no squire to fetch another. I thin the answer is you going the charge, but use your sword instead and just forego the combat benefits of the lance...

Best,
