View Full Version : Is There a New Version Coming?
I saw Greg's post about Nocturnal offering discounts for future versions. Is there a newer version than 5.1 in the works?
I was considering ordering a print version but don't want to do that if there is an update in the works.

I'm not aware of a new version anytime in the short term. Greg would, I'm sure, say seize the day and not wait but grab 5.1 whilst its there.

That was for the PDF versions of the Book of the Manor, the Book of Battle and the Book of Knights and Ladies, which are going to be made available in revised versions. Or so we all hope.

Thanks. So then I should hold off on purchasing these three books? Weren't they just released on PDF a few months ago? Is there an issue with them?

Well, if you want to use them, get them now, I’d say, and use the discount if you really feel the need to upgrade later. The changes are probably going to be minor (errata can be found on the main Pendragon site, and the list is quite small) and nobody knows when the new version is going to be released. Things are moving at an unhurried pace at Nocturnal, it would seem. I guess this is because the company is very small and probably more driven by love for the game than by expectations of riches to be gained; it’s probably not the day-job of anyone involved. I’m not expecting the new versions before next year.
Anyway, I’m glad Nocturnal is around at all; I must admit the state of their website already had me worried for a bit. Me, I’m hoping that someday, years and years hence, they are still there to produce KAPv6.

My Friends
I have just returned from a 7,000 mile road trip to the Arctic Circle
and back
and am somewhat ungrounded at the moment
Nonetheless, I can answer this question now, without fear of a fuzzy reply

I am a life-long professional game designer
so I will not say "never"
but I have no plans at this time for a version 6.1
and many plans for supplements that will be new

Also, what with the PDF of the BotM v2 having been released yesterday …
I’m not expecting the new versions before next year.
… it looks like I fumbled my Pessimistic Forecast roll. Here’s to hoping the other releases follow soon after, and a heap of new supplements next.

I'm a bit confused by these PDF. Am I right in thinking that the Book of Manor is a revised version (akin to the 5.1 rulebook), while the other three supplements are mere reprints of the 5.0 books?
EDIT: The reason I'm asking is that I seem to remember Greg writing about how he wanted to make some adjustments in these books.

It’s the first of the revised versions.
Thanks, but I'm still confused a bit when it comes to the four supplements. When I add them to my cart at RPGNow.com, it shows the Book of Armies as "a scanned image print file". It does not say this for the other three supplements. Is the Book of Armies about to be revised or updated so that it is not a scanned copy?
Since I'm ordering print and PDF together, I'm going to be spending about $200. I really want to be sure I am getting versions that aren't about to be updated.

BOA is NOT a scanned image file, this I can assure you. If you're so concerned, though, I suggest you just buy the PDFs of BOA, BOB, and BOKL, and wait until the revised versions are issued to purchase printed copies. BOTM is the revised edition, so you can grab that in both right now.
