After seeing someone's mention of an imbalance between positive and negative Battle Events results, the following occurred to me: why not allow for the degree of battlefield chaos to be modeled by changing the potential range for Battle Events? In a straight-up battle against highly disciplined troops (Romans or Byzantines, for example), with clear objectives in mind, rolling 2d6-7 for Battle Events might be more accurate. On the other hand, a free-for-all battle against hordes of irregulars (Picts, Irish, or Zazamancs) might warrant 4d6-14 as morale and the churning mass of troops play a greater role. The huge advantage to using an even number of dice is that weighting of Battle Events no longer is toward the negative end, you get an even spread. Additionally, 2d6-7 gives a range of ±5 while 4d6-14 gives a range of ±10, which better fits with KAP's usual modifiers.
