I’ll confess to having started that thread. I thought I might collect some more entries for the list and then post the results here for further refinement, as I dislike cross-posting across several forums at once.

Anyway, if you have any additions or remarks, feel free to just post them here, if you prefer; I’ll add them to the list.

(BTW, reading the first answer to the original post I realized that Christopher Kubasik (aka CK! on rpg.net) must have been playing Pendragon when he wrote his novel Ideal War for FASA’s BattleTech line. It’s Pendragon in Space, set against the background of a vicious guerilla war, with giant fighty robots and a new Round Table!)

Is it alright if I aks here what are the major differences between 3rd/4th editions and 5th edition? For example, are beginning characters' at a higher power level than in the older editions?

And: what does 'spear expertise' mean, it seems to be some new (I think?) Cymri specific skill? How does it differ from regular spear or lance?

I am not capable of answering about the differe3nt editions.
I do think that the most recent edition, 5.1, is a bit higher than any of the ones in the past

Spear Expertise = both lance, spear and Greatspear all in one

I was going to buy the pdf version of 5.1, but then I noticed that adding 39 dollars would get me both a hardcover and PDF, so I promptly succumbed. :P
