hi dragon slayers,

I thought about this in the past and thought the story behind the movie Dragonslayer might fit Pendragon as a quest. When I look at the movie it doesn't seem like the magic is super powered. Ok, the wizard guy came back from the dead and he was able to get lightning to shoot from the sky. That might still fit it. Its not like there were fireballs flying around and stuff.

I'm not sure how I'd define the main character. He really wasn't a wizard, just some guy with a amulet that could do some things. So I wouldn't make him a spellcaster, but a knight.

The forging of the weapon, that doesn't seem to fit though. It looks like a nasty weapon. But if I remember right things like Excalibur had to be forged in Faery land. Anyone out there ever deviate from this?

The dragon, I'd probably modify one of the wyrms in the back of the book so it could fly and that' be it. Maybe modify any turtle stats I can find to make the dragonlings.

The magic is the part that bugs me the most. I still don't think it was super powered magic in the movie but it may be a little too much for Pdragon.

what do you guys think?

It resembles an Ars Magica adventure more than a KAP one. I would most assuredly make Galen Bradwarden a magician, albeit one just starting out. Ulrich's abilities aren't out of line with the highest end of KAP magic, but he's also a Merlin-like figure in the film.

I'm not sure if Ulrich is really that powerful. I have to look at what he did:

1. Came back from the dead.
2. Teleported to a high place.
3. Resisted fire from dragon.
4. Made a cloud shoot lightning.
5. Exploded.

He wasn't powerful enough to teleport to the Dragons lair from his castle/fort thing. And he had to be exploded to kill the dragon... egads! :o Coming back from the dead is a good trick, yet he doesn't seem as powerful as Merlin to me. Didn't Merlin teleport a whole army?

The apprentice guy, doesn't seem like he has any magic powers at all. Didn't he have to use the amulet for everything?

I'd only think it would fit Pendragon if all (or most) of the characters were Pagan. The movie really seems (to me) to be against Christians. Especially how the King is depicted at the end, stealing the credit for killing the dragon. ::)
