Am I right in saying that starting conditions are now added to UI and not BI? So, for example, having superior troops now gives a +5 to UI not BI?

Also, can someone clarify Battle Events; do they still affect BI (which makes sense to me) or do they now only affect UI?

I don't think so. Better troops should go to BI.

Conditions that give an entire army and advantage (like better troops) should go to BI because it tips the balance of the entire battle. Conditions that make the battle more intense, but do not benefit one side obver the other (like the size of the battle), go should go to UI. THese conditions make it harder for the PCs to operate, but don't benefit then entire opposing army.

Battle Size now affect UI, not BI, and Medium size battle get a +5, while Large and Huge get a +10.

I agree. I just wondered if that was the new line. At present, it would seem that BI is only affected by Battle Events and nothing else, and I'm guessing on that.

First Charge Intensity = *Starting Conditions + (3d6-10 Events) + (-20 Disengaged; unit cohesion) + (5; Battle Zone)
after:
Unit Intensity = Battle Intensity + Battle Size Modifier + Battle Zone + Unit Cohesion + Terrain Modifiers
