My players and I are a bit confused.
You have basic chainmail good for 10 pts of defence.
You have a shield good for a possible 6 pts.
And then you have helms.
First, how much do helms cost, and where is that information located?
Then, how much do they add to the armor value (and again, where is that located)?
IF Reinforced Chainmail provides 12 pts of defence, does it provide 13pts with a nasal helm and 14pts with a closed helm? Or does reinforced chainmail automatically come with a nasal or closed helm?
Thanks for the assistance. It will be appreciated.

My advice is to entirely ignore all armor options except for full suits at the well-known values
and whatever magical is allowed in by the GM

Wish I could, but one of my richest knights (married Adwen and then scored 3 (THREE!!) crits on his bloody stewardship rolls) wants to outfit ALL his knights with nasal helms to improve their armor.
He is the one who started the whole question.
ps: Wow - I am very impressed at getting an answer from you within 5 minutes of posting the question!

The way I treated it:
The 11-pt armour has a conical helm, but that is just part of the description of the 11 pt armour. The helm isn't enough to make that armour worth 11 points - you need the actual armour suit, which uses a superior quality mail. And this armour is rare enough that it is simply not available for purchase.
Maybe you might make it available at some ridiculously high price that he'll regret paying in a few years when it drops to 3 or 4 L...

But you are the gamemaster, si/no?
Tell him, "we aren't using that rule."
it's easy
alternately, do as Darren said and charge them a huge amount
after all, there's no market to go and pick up a dozen of these, an armorer has to make them.

That my friend is called luck :)
