I am (re)checking the revised BoBATTLE, scheduled follow BoENTOURAGE
Part 1.
In it I include the rule that brings Passions into line in Battle
it requires a person with Notable Passion (16+) to make their Hate (enemy) Passion upon first fighting their enemy--usually on the First Charge
In such circumstances a knight can use his Prudent each Round to oppose his Hate to "save it" for later.
I am still pondering the necessity of that, or how to present it
Part 2.
But thinking about that made me realize that I've never presented anything about modifiers to the Passions!
For instance, I think it could be appropriate to modify Hate if you are defending your homeland

Or if you are vastly outnumbered. Or you are facing a specific long-time enemy (such as a knight who especially hates Octa and Eosa for their repeated plundering of his or her manor).

When I first read BOA I did find the Passions rule a little odd. It seemed bizarre that a knight on a battlefield, pumped up, and in the thick of fighting 1000s of his hated foe, could suppress his Hate, while a knight on an adventure encountering just a few of them could not.
However, Battle being what it is, I have found this rule a handy one.

I like it! Used it last night, in fact. It is another thing to remember, but, it does add some unpredictability.

Totally wish I had that right now. Also curious as to whether NPC Unit Commanders could access their Passion for their Battle rolls to oppose Unit Intensity, and if so, how long would that effect remain?

You do, right now
Anyone courageous enough to GM KAP has what it takes
Anyone who knows some KAP source materials knows what it takes
If you have a fair idea of the {PCs' (or PC's) stats can judge what is needed
Not sure?
In a pinch I say, "Abel, lemme see our character sheet. Baker, you too Charlie."
calculate in my head what an average bonus might need-- A has 8, B has 12, C has 16; I wanna give a chance to the average to be 18, so lemme see +10+6+2 divided by3=+6
"OK you guys, remember that kid you liked back at the castle? There he is in the hands of the Saxons before you. Jesus, it looks like they're eating him on the battlefield! [after responses]
Hate Saxons everyone, with a +6 modifier to Hate"
My game designer's powers hereby grant to any and all gamemasters of KAP such a right to modify for or against the players

Yes they can. One round, like it says for all passion rolls
