Sorry, I tried to search and couldn't find it and I suspect it's a dumb question. In years where you're expected to serve army duty during the great campaign, do the players still do an adventure, or is the battle it? It seems like there's a battle nearly every year; when do the players get time for adventures if they're always fighting?

First, this is just a recommendation. Many game masters run multiple sessions per year, to have time for both battle, adventure, social events and what not. I personally wouldn't recommend this; I think the game works better as designed.

Most of the large battles take place 518 and before, and after 531 there are virtually no battles. That is the time of Adventure. Or in other worlds, the early eras are full of battles, the latter era is one of adventure.

This is not a bug, it's a feature. Running all 86 years in PGC the same would be incredibly boring. By have a number of eras with their own theme and also their own focus of game play, you get variety. This is one of the things that at least for me makes KAP one of the best RPGs I have ever played.

The target is one adventure a year but the nature of the 'adventure' is flexible. One year it is a battle, another year it is a great tournament, another it might be a hunt or a feast; sometimes it is an actual adventure or quest.

The trick to Pendragon is not to try and do everything - focus on one 'thing' per year.
