Should Passions be rolled for the commanders? is there any other way to modify the key Battle rolls in the Book of Battle?

I know Greg just mentioned Passions on the battlefield, but I'm sure we was talking players, not NPC commanders. If NPC Saxon units can roll Passions, why not NPC Commanders?

Thanks,

That's up to the GM. As you're already experiencing high casualties it's probably wise not to stack the odds even higher against your PKs.

However, it makes very little difference. Remember a Passion roll in Battle lasts just one battle round. Boosting your battle skill in a lengthy battle won't greatly affect the outcome. Also, with regard to NPCs, it makes even less difference. The only time you might possibly roll vs the enemy commader's Battle skill is on round 1. After that it opposed vs Unit Intensity.

Well, I was thinking that Sir Elas needed some help. He's the one that can't get a success against an Intensity 24...

But, yeah, I guess you'd have to give it to the other side. BUT Saxons don't have a racial hatred, as a general rule, as the Cymri seem to.

In general as a game designer, I try to make the GM's job as simple as possible
and also help the PCs, giving the a little edge (Passions)
Later on when the players are more powerful I DO introduce Passions for the NPCs
But not to start
