I have started a GPC campaign recently and one of my players was confronted with the following dilemma I wanted to share with you all:
- The PK has a Hate(Saxons) of 18.
- As a bonus (given by me as GM) the manor the PK holds has a good horsebreed. After some research she found out that it is the saxons that are famous for their horses. (The names Hengist and Horsa are related to the words Hengst (which is dutch for stallion) and horse. Also places like lower sazony, the region called Twente in the Netherlands, still have the horse in their coat of arms).
the answer was a nice and simple story:
When Vortigern brought the Saxons over they were seen has good and helpful. After all they drove away the Picts from the North. an ancestor of the PK made contact with them and convinced them to share some of their fine horses. As such the PK's family and the Saxons became friends.
This all changed when the Saxons betrayed the Britons and love turned to hatred. So even thou the PK has a good horse (thanks to the Saxons) he hates them with all his heart. He still feels the betrayal deep in him.
I found this a nice example of how to define your passions. where are they coming from and why is it so high.
