Hello all.
I have now begun to plan the "mirroring group" of NPCs that will (try to) haunt the player characters during the upcoming adventures and general doings. I've made it easy for myself, and taken the three court knights (Lycus, Leo(called Leonus here) and Bar (called Baran here)) and their families, plus one deviced by me, to draw up four squires that'll hopefully make the player characters lives harder. These are:
1. Squire Miles de Newton Tony (son of the Sarum Bailiff, as of yet unnamed). First question here: is there actually a Bailiff in Sarum, and if so, how much power does he wield and how could he make the lives of his son's enemies tougher? This one, Miles, is the really bad NPC, with a 16 in Deceitful and generally not very loving, and he is is also the leader.
2. Squire Lutorius of Tisbury (son of Sir Lycus). Like his father, excels in fighting and is known for his Cruel streak, especially towards small animals and children.
3. Squire Laevinus of Wylye (son of Sir Leonus). Also, like his father, is fond of beautiful things and rather the "good guy of the bad crop", but not so smart and easily distracted with "beautiful words" into doing bad things, things he often regret later but then it's too late.
4. Squire Tancred of Durnford (son of Sir Baran). Is becoming as big and burly as his father, but is definately smarter than the knight parent. Also is easily swayed by words from Miles and Lutorius, but not the beautiful ones.
This group is going on the same first scenario errand as the player characters, discovering the Saxons before the PCs.
IMPORTANT NOTE: the Saxons are all adolescent punks trying to get some glory for themselves by going on a mead hunt. So they do not have the full Saxon warrior stats and are more easily scared off, but still Saxons.
The Giant with the tooth-ache are discovered by the PCs and when the players hear that the other squires plan to ambush the Saxons boys with the help of the player squires (hopefully) a great debate will ensue over the greater idea of using the Giant AGAINST the Saxons. This idea stems from the pre-scenario instance of meeting an old knight with a bad knee-ache, who reportedly "heals" the ache with some good mead. Anyway, please add any ideas or changes if you like, I am very open to other views on this! Thanks beforehand.
