Has anyone picked this up on PDF yet, and if so, what did you make of it?

I'm interested in new Pendragon material but am struggling to justify £12 on a 48 page PDF so I'd love some of you to sell me on it. :-)

I'll be getting it, but I'm waiting on the POD details to be finalised before I buy. So I'll second your sentiment but I don't have anything substantive to say at this time.

It was an expensive PDF but I bought it anyway. Usually when I buy something it's because I want it, but with Greg Stafford's work I buy it because I want it AND I want to support him so he can put out more stuff!

It's an interesting book, I haven't really looked into it very much because it just isn't too useful to me yet. The random husband/wife tables are nice and the description of how weddings go down back in the day is a nice touch. I DID notice, however, a mention of something called the Book of Britons.

Now what's that?! As far as I knew the upcoming releases were Book of Grandparents, Uther, Barons, and Magicians...

At the risk of being charged with bias because I was involved in its production, I'll just say this book is worth every penny—and then some. I really wish I'd had it when I started my campaign as it gives a much more detailed system for generating random wives (or husbands!) including details on Older Wives, Widows, dowrys and dowers, etc. There are four pages dedicated to adding more depth Squires, and a ton of stats for the lord's mesnie and, well, entourage. Every thing from foot soldiers to chefs, to lawyers, jesters, and falconers—and updated rules on improving them—are included. The book is a treasure trove who enjoy the lord-of-the-manor aspect of the game.

For which I thank you

Damn, that slipped through?
BoBRITONS is the same as BoK&L, but with the Homeland slightly reorganized so that it dovetails perfectly with BoGRANDFATHER, which is organized by areas

and, FYI, the next release is probably none of the above, but BoESTATE
Basically, how to run a £100 holding, suitable to support an eschille.

Just fulla surprises, eh?

The content sounds very interesting. Generation of older wives would be useful for me as I've just started Anarchy and there's a lot of widows going about: and I like the inclusion of husband details since it makes playing a woman a bit more practical.

Still, £12 for 48 pages is a bit rich for my blood: I snapped up BoK&L despite thinking the cost was a bit high because I was so keen for it, and BoB & BoA were picked up cheaper in a RPGNow sale. I notice that all these books plus Entourage are the same price. Consider it's a third of the size of BoK&L this is a bit rich for my blood.

I picked it up the other day and have found it quite useful, though I'm a bit confused by the Wife creation rules! Is a Wife's starting skill her current Age, Age Modifiers, and Class modifiers? The book was a bit confusing as it referred to the starting Lady Skill as being "always Age + Class Modifiers" which could be interpreted as Age [Modifiers] + Class Modifiers, or her actual Age and Class Modifiers, which wouldn't leave any room for the Age Modifier table.

Yes
Lady Skill = Age + Class modifier + Age Modifier

A quick queston, if a basic manor nets a surplus of 6 L after maintence and tax to the Liege lord, which then goes on the Vassal Knight, Squire, Horses, Wife and Lady in waitng totaling 6 L, so without additional income, a Chaplin or other servants is out of the question financially?

actually a manor will have a chaplain
BoESTATE will have more about household staff

Priests. If a lord has only one staff member it is a chaplain, who reads and writes for the lord. He, or another, is present to care for the religious priestly duties. He is called a Confessor. He, or sometimes another priest, is also the Almoner, who is responsible for giving away alms (donations) of food, clothing, or coinage to the poor.

Cheers, yes I think I actually got confused between the knights chaplin and the one mentioned in BotM who sounds less. ummm, suited ot read for a Knight who cannot.

Christian. A Christian manor has its priest, who has a servant
or householder. He was appointed by a bishop in a
distant city, to whom he sends obligatory gifts each year.
He probably cannot read, knows only parts of the liturgy, ....
