All—

Be advised that, on p. 7 of the BOOK OF THE ENTOURAGE, where it says a manorial lord should support two Foot Soldiers, that this is intended for the LATE PHASE of THE GREAT PENDRAGON CAMPAIGN. During the EARLY PHASE only ESTATE holders are required to retain two Foot Soldiers — and one Guardsman for the garrison. This is an important distinction that will be corrected in the next update.

And since we changed it back to apply to all manors, regardless of size in WARLORD, It means this change will be propagated back to ENTOURAGE and ESTATE. So a one manor vassal knight will have one knight (himself), two foot soldiers for the army AND one foot soldier (NOT a Guardsman, which is an elite foot soldier label now) for the garrison. This will be correct in ENTOURAGE 1.3.

The revised book looks great, but there's actual one more detail that seems off about the Foot Soldiers - and that's the cost. Page 4 says that manors now generate £10, and that £3 of this goes to support a Chaplain, a Lady's Maid, and 3 Foot Soldiers. However, Chaplains and Maids each cost £1 a year, and Foot Soldiers cost £0.5 each, meaning the total for all of them would be £3.5.

Lady's Maid is not a handmaiden (noblewoman) but a commoner servant, and should cost £0.5 (p. 41 is in error, see p. 11). Thus, p. 4 is correct: Chaplain £1, Lady's Maid £0.5, 3 Foot Soldiers £1.5 = £3, leaving £6 for the knight + squire + horses + family and £1 for Discretionary Fund.

I really hoped that we would have caught all these typos, but that seems to be an unachievable goal. :)

Thanks for pointing out this typo and I hope my answer clarifies it.

Yes, it is devilishly difficult to catch everything, no matter how many folks you have and how much time you spend. I'll wait awhile to see if any others turn up and we'll issue an update.

Thanks for reporting this!

UPDATE: I've gone ahead and started a v.1.4 file and have corrected this error. We'll wait awhile before posting it, to see if any others turn up; I'm recording this for my records as much as anything.
