View Full Version : Beginner PbP?

Hello all,
Are there any fellow Pendragon beginners interested in a one-shot play-by-post? I would be willing to GM, if necessary (a word of warning though... I have never played Pendragon, never GM'd anything, and never played-by-post, so your patience would be appreciated!) The adventure I would run is relatively short, and designed as a solo adventure, but I think I can make it work for 2-3 PKs if there's that much interest. It would probably be rather slow-paced (1-2 posts per week) but maybe better than nothing?

Of course, if someone else wants to GM a beginner's game... I would certainly be happy to just play! :)

Thanks everyone.

I would be happy to join, I have played in mix-mash campaigns of 4th, 5th and 5.1th editions, I know the rules and would be happy to join in.

For dicing could I recommend: http://rolz.org/group

You can create your own room and players can post there and everyone can check over things with a months long backlog.

What time period are you wanting to run? Fresh young 21 year old Salisbury Knights or others?

Great to see some interest! Thanks for the replies, guys.

I'll post some more info this weekend. Sorry for the short post, I'm away from my computer this week.

Joel and Sir Morganor, thanks again for the interest. First things first... the folks at Real Roleplaying Forums have kindly set us up with a forum for our game at:

http://www.realroleplaying.com/rmsmf/index.php?board=619.0

It's titled "A Bird in the Hand." My username is the same there as it is here.

Sir Morganor, thank you for suggesting rolz.org. It looks like a good site, but I'd like to try the above site. There's a well-established GPC running over there that I've been observing for some time (Once More Into the Breach), and I like their setup. I hope you'll agree it's a good site.

I'm planning on running the core KAP 5.1. I've been designing the adventure with typical starting characters in mind (untried Cymric Salisbury knights), but if you'd like to play as someone else, let me know, we can certainly work something out.

I haven't decided on an exact period yet, but it will probably be in the Conquest or Romance timeframe.

Please check in over at the game forum when you get a chance!

Sir Morganor,

Joel & I have started the game, but if you're still interested, you're still welcome!

To answer your earlier question, the adventure is set in 525 (the Conquest Period).

Thank you but since I last posted I have found myself in a couple of games that have taken my attention. Have fun without me.

Can people track your goings on via that earlier link? or could post a commentary?

I didnt realise this was so recent a post else I may have asked to join (limited experience with Pendragon and absolutely none with p(e)bm).

EDIT: Followed link and enjoying reading :p Thanks.

Dalfort,

Glad you enjoyed reading the thread. If you're so inclined, you're welcome to join us! We're at a good spot to bring in a new player knight. If you're interested, check in over on the game thread and we'll go from there.

Barrow,

What's the desired frequency for playing with you guys? I'm really inclined to ask you to allow me play too, but if you need a daily posting or so I may not be able too...

Of course, please onlyconsider the above if you still wish another player joining your campaing.

Cavalcanti, our agreement is to post at least once weekly. You may have noted that we have been posting about 1 or 2 times a day; don't let that deter you. I expect things to slow down to weekend postings on my end soon, due to work. If you can post once or twice a week then you're welcome to join. If you're still interested, head over to the game and check in. We'll go from there.

Great! I'll look for you there.

I have registered but waited all night to receive the activation code :-\ this has at least allowed me to read all the posts now :P

I will check again tomorrow and work through a character as well, I will be using the KAP 5 if that is ok as I only have this and the GPC at my disposal and tbh it is what I will be using to run my for my group in a couple of months (after we tire of being Vampires in New York).

I have checked out the Map with 120 manors linked to in the other thread... Can I be from Littleworth please (near the top in the middle) if not I am just as happy to be from anywhere or indeed a Household knight if that fits for you.

Barrow

Dalfort,

Littleworth will be perfect.

I think KAP 5 character generation will be okay. The current PK was rolled up with the Book of Knights and Ladies, however. So let's do this: create your knight using KAP 5 for now, and I'll walk you through the important differences afterwards, just to keep things consistent.

When you get set up on the other board, please give me a post or a PM with your general character concept.

Thanks!

I am really enjoying the whole experience, I had struggled recently to get motivated in regard to RPG (suppose we all go through phases in 25+ years :P). My sons are keen to play Pendragon including an smaller game based around our local area, that will be interesting to see what information I can dig up.

Thank-you Barrow and Joel for letting me join in and giving me some drive back :)

Thank-you Barrow and Joel Britton.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this adventure and company even more so. If my game is half as good as this I will be very proud and happy, if my players enjoy it a tenth as much as I did it will be deemed an overwhelming success.

Adventure (http://www.realroleplaying.com/rmsmf/index.php?board=619.0) of two young knights submerged into the harsh environment of the Dark Ages and the precarious delicate power plays of feudal hierarchy. I urge people to read this at their leisure, I will be using it as a reference for my upcoming games.

Dalfort, thanks for the plug (although I would have subtitled the game "The Adventures of Sir Gwair the Unaware, and his pal Sir Mean Eugene the Fumbling Machine) :D Good luck in your family game.

The quest itself didn't turn out quite like I'd planned, but the game was a success in my book! It was a lot of fun, and I hope to continue it down the road.

Thanks again to Joel Britton and Dalfort, and to everyone else who showed interest.

Hi Barrow,

I've just re-discovered Pendragon and found this forum. Are you still playing? and if so, would you be interested in a new player at some point?

I've played Pendragon before (a few years ago), but I'm happy to be considered a newbie :)

I've written much the same response on Makofan's "Pendragon 1st edition Play-by-post game has openings" thread here as well. I would only be able to commit to one game, but I'm not sure who is still looking.

Regards
Andy

Hi Andy, thanks for your interest. I'm sorry it took me so long to reply.

It looks like you may have already committed to Makofan's game, so maybe this is a moot point, but...

My one-shot game has just started its final phase, so I haven't actively been looking for new players. Having said that, though, I think I could handle another player. I'd just want to run it by my current players first to make sure they have no objections.

Let me know if you're still interested! Again, sorry for the delay.

Hi Barrow,

Yes, I've signed up with Makofan, so I'll have to pass, unfortunately.

Ideally, I'd like to end up with an on-line game and a monthly realworld game, but we'll have to see how it goes.

Thanks for replying though. :)

Regards
Andy
