I am (hopefully) going to start a Pendragon game.

Since all PKs begin unmarried - as I understand it - they only need 4 Libram per year (2 for the PK and 2 for his horses) and as I understand it the Squires expenses are picked up in here as well.

The PK can either hire a Steward to watch over things for 1 Libram per year (Stewardship roll = 10+1d6).

Am I getting this right?

So if the PK ever becomes married - then his expenses become 6 Libram per year and the Wife takes over the Stewardship.

In the book of the Manor it states that the PKs wife will have a Handmaiden - is that included in the family expeneses?

I think you are getting it right, and I would rule that the Handmaiden is covered by the normal 6L expenses. You'll also have the village priest, stablehands, the cook, the reeve and all sorts of other manorial staff already paid and accounted for by the manorial income before you even see the money needed for the Knight's upkeep. Hidden under the hood, as it were, something you do not need to worry about.
