Just a quicky-
When creating a character with Knights and Ladies - when you get to Part F Current Class - Section 2 Family Wealth and generate starting wealth - does that carry over to actual play?
In other words let's say that a PK rolls very well and gets RICH as the family wealth - when the PK starts the game does that go down to the normal 6 Libram per year?
Normally Knights begin with a Manor and thus an income to spend 6 Libram per year but if thier father died a Rich or lets say Poor knight what then happens?
Thanks
Todd

GM call

Correct, if by "spend" you mean maintain himself
per year but if thier father died a Rich or lets say Poor knight what then happens?
As the GM, I let the wealth carry over to the manor inoc9me, with a plus or minus as appropriate

Personally, I've kept everyone's starting manors as £6. Starting wealth for me is just the wealth of the character in the year he is knights, possibly reflecting how much spare cash his father had accrued to knight him or if he was reliant on the universal aid only.
In the early stages PC wealth fluctuates a bit anyway - if a knight is poor for year one, it isn't that his family is rubbish but that the last year or two was disastrous.
That said, if you want to insert some variance into PC starting manors then using that starting value as a guide to it's worth might be interesting rather than just a fixed £6 for everyone. Perhaps a £5 manor for poor and a £8 manor for rich? Or (if using the BotM) start the rich player off with a free cheap investment like Apiary or Fishing Pond?

Thanks for the insight.
I figured that any excess starting wealth could be just additonal inherritance but going forward start the 6L per year base - and the reverse - the PK father left the new Knight some debts that had to be paid or whatever.
Thanks again!

I agree. Besides, it is really a big deal for future gameplay if you are able to maintain Rich status or struggle to survive. Poor Knight maintenance is really on the edge of disaster; do that for more than a year or so, and you will lose your horse and your children. Start a campaign with that as your default setting, and your char will not be a knight for long. There is already a huge advantage for the Rich Knight rolling player to have better equipment in comparison to the Poor Knight.
In subsequent generations I do let the new PKs inherit whatever their father's have rummaged together for them. If lucky, that can be several manors, whereas some are left with just the family manor, or even start off as household knights without a manor of their own, if they choose to play the younger sons.
