Hi,

I know the bride will come with a dowry, but who pays for the entertainment, food etc on the day? In the past I have made it the player knight, is that right?

Should any parties expect gifts apart from the married couple?

Cheers,

One of the traditional feudal reliefs is there to help a landholder fund the marriage of their oldest daughter - so the normally the father of the bride would pay.

Of course PCs are rarely normal.

Ooh you've got a nice one that will kill you quick rather than by "the death of a thousand nags".
There is a set of ancient Sacred Codices containing Strategies & Tactics for women called the "NAG Hammadi" ;D ;) It includes the Gospels of St Harridan of SHREWsbury!

I am so going to get glowered at by Suzanne at game this Saturday! LOL!! <evil chuckle> Our dear Bones does a great "Hairy Eyeball" glare.

After my own questions about weddings, I have various bits and pieces I might try and write up for weddings in Pendragon if anyone is interested.

There is an old Scottish custom wherein the groom gives his wife a sword, which she will give to the first-born son. Alternatively, the bride's family might give the groom a sword as a symbol of the passing of the duty to protect her (this would presumably be part of the dowry). Either custom gives more character and adds a history to a mere object.

BTW, my real-life lady is a swordswoman. At our wedding this summer I'm giving her my Wilkinson.
