Yes, customs changed according to time and place.

However, KAP is based on English custom, and has a rough chronology that tracks medieval history, as explained in GPC.

Since questions here are about the game, it is most useful to everyone to reply with those KAP parameters in mind.

Historical material is welcome, especially if yoked with the game, but it is also most useful if it is noted as such.
