Hmm. I tried downloading it from DrivethruRPG and got a file with the size of 0 bytes. Empty file, in other words. Has someone been able to get the sample and this is just a problem I am having?

Try again, using the link above. It looks like there was a errant character on the end of the url.

The problem wasn't with your link, Taliesin. I got to the correct page on DriveThruRPG, and ordered the file. But when downloading it, it was 0 bytes. Using the new link doesn't change anything, it is still the same page in DriveThruRPG.

Ah, I see. Well, crumbs. Must be a technical issue with the system, or somehow the file got corrupted in the process, because the source file works fine.

*nods* Looks like someone else is having problems with the download, too, based on the review on that page.

It was the same here. I emailed DriveThru, no response yet though.

We've removed the file for now, and are investigating what happened. In the meantime, any who tried to download the file and failed can contact me via PM and I'll send you a link to a copy that I know works. This offer won't last forever, but it's the least we can do for those who had a ad experience yesterday.

Best,

I am disappointed that this item did not make to the free RPG I attended.

You didn't miss all that much, Tanty. It is not as if the sample was intended to give you lots of crunchy bits, but merely an overview what the real book is like. Most of the stuff in the sample had already come up in threads of this forum, only the Family Survival Roll table was something really new and instantly usable in the campaign without the rest of the book.

Couldnt help but notice the modifiers for the suvival table are applied as bonuses, so war, famine and palgue actually help keep you safe.

Got a question
Standard of living Modifiers; apply as a bonus against Famine, Pestilence or Plague.
Living Rich is +1, ordinary +0, poor -1, impoverished +2.

were these modifers intended to only be used to cancel out Famine, Pestilence or Plague. So living rich doesnt help you survive death any better than being impoverished?

One more question, is the Estate's 10 Librum manor suppose to replace the vassal knights 6 librum manor for starting characters now? and does this net them any advantage or is the extra librum just something absorbed into money you dont see?

Oops.
Of course, they are supposed to increase the chance of death

They are to be used very year, for every roll, whether or not one of those disastrous events occrs

BoESTATE dumps the "money you don't see" in favor of showing where it all goes
The £10 in this book gives exactly the same results as the £6 in the old
except now you can see where that money all goes

That's just a priceless quote from an RPG designer. It could work for so many things ;D

Who's the editor on these books anyway?!

Sorry guys. Don't know how that got past me. It will be corrected in version 1.1, coming soon.

I fear, Taliesin, that there is only one punishment severe enough for such an oversight.

Report to Castle Anthrax for a spanking!

(Oh, while you are thinking about the version 1.1, check out the Errata section of BotE on this forum. Leodegrance and I made some comments there as well.)

Yep, I've already got those integrated, I think, but I'll double check.

BTW, we've completed the work for the POD versions of ESTATE. Just need to wait for proofs to come back before committing to the store.

Thanks!
