We have price lists for 485 and 531. But what about 510?

In GPC p. 121, it says: "Horses: Chargers become widely available. The
result is that the mounted sergeantry are mounted upon them as well as all knights." So is the price for chargers still £20 as before, or is the price cheaper with better availability, hence explaining why they are more widely (indeed, pretty much universally) adopted?

In the old Boy King (precursor of GPC), it is explicitly stated that during Anarchy, the price of chargers is double compared to 531 prices. However, 510 has almost the same flavor text as GPC: "Chargers become much more available. The result is that mounted sergeantry becomes more common." But there is no mention of price, implying that the price of chargers is the same as in 531 (4th ed rulebook default), in other words, only £10. Which is, in my opinion, more in line with the flavor text.

What is the final word on this? Was this note simply missing in GPC, as in earlier edition it was not needed? Or are the chargers still extremely expensive but still so common as to get even mounted sergeantry on chargers as well as ALL knights?

Thijs gets a Humble check
and the nod of approval. His prices are fine.

Not sure I like the idea of a £3 charger, but if that is the official line, then it is the official line...

Oh, me either

My comment concerning Thijs' prices was for the initial question ONLY: Price of chargers in 510

Ah, good that I commented then, as I took it as an endorsement of all the prices in Thijs' list.

So this would then mean that the chargers are still bloody expensive in 510, but somehow, the knights can still afford to upgrade to them? Assuming the text about all knights being mounted on chargers is true, of course.

I like Thijs table for horse prices.

I dont mind charger price dropping later. Its hardly an issue when everyone is riding andalucians by 530 and destriers by late 540s, when regular charger becomes more like poor knights horse or backup horse for player knights.

Thanks, that was indeed my motivation for making the table.

If everyone would be riding those things, then sure, yeah. But the replacement horses are still Chargers, and the Andalusians are £20 and Destriers £32... My players' characters with their couple of manors each usually spend their earnings on Upgraded Maintenance and Manorial Investments, rather than on horses that are sure to die in a decade... Andalusians are gifts from the King, and no one has yet to have ridden a destrier, save for one duel where Agravaine loaned his horse to a PK against a common enemy knight.

So I guess this is very much a campaign-dependent issue. Of course, by using Thijs' price table, the drop in Andalusian prices would make them more affordable, although to truly make Andalusians and Destriers common, one would need to:
1) increase the discretionary income of normal knights so that they can afford to buy the darn things every decade or so, and/or
2) allow the better breeds to be incorporated to the manorial herd and hence make them replaced from the herd if they die, as is currently the case with chargers.
