Okays, so in the year 524, my PC, the Weeping Sir Orwaine has finally overthrown Sir Basil, the usurper of Rydychan, and is set to marry the heiress to the county, the Lady Fee furies.
Becomming an Earl, Orwaine, will most likely actively retire and give our GM some breaks guest GMing touranments and what not; but as a PC, the GM and I have agreed Orwaine isn't quite finished. As I haven't seen the GPC section of Rydychan, I have no clue how much detail is in there, but I'm looking for any background info anyone Pendragon buff may share as well as any storyline ideas.
I'm thinkning to open up the game to a little politicing and see if Rydychan can become a more important county. Any thoughts?
Thanks
I am sorry to say that I have no thoughts on this at the moment, except that I'd like you to update this post when the politicing gets started. In my campaign some of the pc:s are getting close to owning-too-much-land-to-be-left-alone-by-big-politics. I'd like some plot tips and other ideas myself - most of our stuff so far has been plain adventuring and family-scale plotting.

I believe that GREG does have future plans to bring out a HOW TO PLAY AN EARL/LORD sometime ion the future. I know he is working constantly on that subject. Weather it is able to come to fruition is one thing. I have faith that it will, since I gear the BOOK OF BATTLE is VERY near completion!!!!!!!! Very exciting. I only wish that I could get together with all the loyal fans of pendragon on this sight and play with u all. Pendragon fans are truly the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I salute u all!
I was thinking about that, too. Well, there are thirty-something counties, various duchies, independent kingdoms. It'd be cool to have a gazetteer so that the stats: # knights, castles, wealth, etc. are noted, plus info, if just names, of the ruling houses.
I remember during the Anarchy Period, in the Salisbury civil war, I made a map of all the manors of Salisbury (it's crude) from the one in the book and the players referred to it like a Risk board; seeing who was loyal to Countess Ellen, who wasn't, which enemies to eliminate, which to win over, etc. It was fun to have the whole world collapse into just Salisbury for a few months!

Totally agree with Doon. I think the best fun I ever had GMing Pendragon was the whole St. Albans aftermath with Salisbury in turmoil, plots following one after another...
In fact, I had so much fun with it that I am attempting to recreate something like that in our current campaign (different group). I killed Earl Robert off at the Battle of Autun, and then arranged for the PKs to be delayed even more. In fact, they are assumed dead in Salisbury. Which gave me, the Evil GM, the opportunity to install the younger brother of the banneret-heir PK (didn't inherit before the war due to having been a Squire still, as well as other factors including having been raised for several years in a faerie court and returned only just before the Roman War) as the banneret. This will not sit well with the proud pagan PK I suspect, so might be that the brothers will go to war against one another. At which point the new Earl, aptly named Roderick, will interfere on the side of his choice of a banneret... Ought to be fun, no matter which way the chips will fall.
But, to answer the original poster...
Just off the top of my hat, I'd look for weak neighbors in need of Rydychan's protection. If unwilling to accept such protection, you'll simply have to show them how badly they need being protected, now don't you? Opportunities for a lot of low level warfare and raiding, which is always fun. Of course, other neighbors of Rydychan might try these same tactics on you, trying to get you to swear fealty to them, like the Duke of Silchester. Isn't he the uncle or something of the Countess of Rydychan? By the same token, Sir Orwaine was presumably a Salisbury knight, granted permission to go and help by the Earl of Salisbury? He would probably insist that Orwaine's oath of fealty is still valid (compare with the Dukes of Normandy being vassals to the Kings of France, despite being the Kings of England in their own right), which might cause all sorts of friction down the line. Maybe the Earl of Salisbury even insists that since Sir Orwaine was acting under his orders the whole time, Orwaine should do homage for the county of Rydychan to him, as a conquest made by Salisbury! Forest Sauvage is pretty near, so all manner of beasties might come out to trouble the county. And finally, don't forget the Saxons, who's happily try to extort whatever they can from Earl Orwaine, or threaten to pillage his still vulnerable county.
Welcome to the Big Leagues! ;)

Thanks for the replys!!!
I've done some thinking since posting. My GM also created a map of the manors of Salisbury and I feel it would be a natural and interesting twist to now "zoom out" to the counties of Logres for politicing.
Early thoughts of course are how to deal with my old loyalty lord passions, Orwaine, with 15 Loyalty Earl Robert, now has as a vassel, Lady Ufiington, aka Mrs Earl Robert. He also has a Loyalty Duke Herves of Anglia, but doesn't really care much of his Manor there other than squeezing those dirty saxons.
Being neighbors, the Clarence and Glaucester feud could all of a sudden find a new player in Rydychan. As Silchester just fell and is now divided in two by Salisbury and Hampshire, maybe one of those counties could get split as well.
In gaining Rydychan, Orwaine had to promise the Forest Sauvage to King Madog. An interesting if unstable ally, given Orwaine's new wife is Madog's daughter, who is requested to spent a season of each year in fey. I have a feeling trouble will emerge soon, but as on our wedding night a son was conceived; I'm not too worried. Now that the county is officially Orwaines and a legitimate heir is born, the Lady Fee can spend as must time in Fey as she wants.
But regardless of politicing, Orwaines main priority is recuiting strong and loyal knights. The conquest of Rydychan used a lot of borrowed and bought men. To become a bigger player we'll need to have a stronger army.
Anyways, I'll keep yall updated with any neat updates and please keep the ideas a flowing!
as well as being a part of a play test group

I decided to reply separately regarding the book of Earls. It looks like Earl Orwaine will be a good playtest for the potential book...
