I'm prepping for my first Pendragon run since the 90's. I was thinking about using the random character generation found in the Book of Knights & Ladies and tested it with a buddy last night. I was surprised that he pretty easily achieved the religious bonus for British Christianity. I looked closer... with the regional modifiers, 3 discretionary points, and 6 more points in Individual Differences (not to mention the Famous Trait and increasing a trait later in the Individual Skill Choices) it's a snap.

Is that the intent? Or, as usual, have I missed something?

It is intentional
You will see that a minimaxer will come out with a mainstream character: British Christian Cymric knight
Otherwise, when obscure types are in any way superior to the mainstream character, then the playing group ends up with this hodgepodge of otherwise weird individuals who are supposed to somehow be workign together
