Another batch for the errata, this time concerned with the Estate examples:

AXE:
1) Axe is a town, not a village (side text).

BANSWALL:
1) map shows Edernstown, side text reads Edernsville. Map shows symbol of town, not village.

BRAN'S ISLAND:
1) should get a bonus of 3 libra for being next to Londinium, not 1.

CHERINSFORD:
1) Cherinsford is a city, according to the main text, not a hamlet as in the side text.
2) Cherinsford should give a City bonus of 2 libra.
2) Chattering is a Market Town, and so should give a bonus of 1 libra.

WHEATFIELD:
1) in the first "additions" it reads "Same hundred as Hantonne 1 libra". Is Hantonne a Market Town or a city? It's irrelevant if it is in the same hundred or not, since the bonus would apply anyway as long as it is in an adjacent hundred.
2) The White City, which I presume is a city, seems to be located in an adjacent hundred. If so, it should provide a bonus of 2 libra.

WOODLAND:
1) the Hundred Court Profits need to be either subtracted from the render or a similar value added to the total value of the estate (render and estate value are given as the same; by the way, are you sure Woodland is a village and not a town?).

Other errors or inconsistencies:

1) I haven't taken notes of this, but many of the estate maps uses the symbols for cities, towns, hamlets and villages in a way that does not match the text descriptions, as if the status of a settlement changed after someone made the maps and these were not corrected.
2) page 57 states that every hundred has a settlement that is bigger than a village. Although many of the estate examples are only parts of hundreds, it strikes me as strange that half of them or so don't have anything above a village. Some of them seem to contain an entire hundred but not a single town. Given the errors above, could it be due to error and not by design?

Hope this is helpful. Loving the book so far. Good work!

Thanks, Gorgon, for posting this. Oh my, there are a few errors lurking in these maps. I will continue to post additional items here since I'm reviewing everything for THE GREAT PENDRAGON ATLAS (these will all be corrected in the next revision of ESTATE):

Regarding the map's legend, this is what the icon's were supposed to represent:

A solid black bullet = cluster
A hollow bullet = hamlet
A bullet with a circle around it = village
A hollow bullet with a circle around it = town
A square with a bullet inside = Market Town
A hollow square = Estate caput (That's why you thought Axe is a "town", maybe. It is, in fact, larger than a town.

A more reliable indicator maybe the relative size of the settlement's label, which gets smaller with the size of the settlement.

Believe it or not, we were very careful (or thought we were) when reviewing this stuff. But parsing out al these subtleties, along with last-mints revisions to town names, or even the introduction of new settlements, made proofing this a challenge, to say the least. We may very well take you up on your offer on future publications! A fresh pair of eyes can only help.

Re: the concern about some of the hundreds not having towns, one can assume that, in the absence of a town or city the estate caput fills that roll. Towns aren't that common during the reign of Uther, which is the period in which these maps were envisioned.

Taliesin's items:

AXE: Killingtown is is missing from the sidebar. Should be a hamlet.

The sample estates have all been corrected in ESTATE v1.3. to match the revamped economics system shared across ENTOURAGE, ESTATE and WARLORD.
