Who exactly were the Kings of Ganis and Benoit after the de Ganis clan starts reclaiming their lands after the Second French War? By rights it seems like Lancelot would be King of Benoit and Bors the King of Ganis, but with both knights serving the Round Table up in Britain so much it doesn't seem likely that either was serving as king. Were they officially the kings of their respective realms but had regents actually running the kingdoms for them or did they defer taking the thrones in which case who became King of Ganis and King of Benoit?

In Our Campaign, Lancelot and Bors have been active in reconquering Ganis. Lancelot basically went down there a couple of summers in the row, kicked some French butt, organized his kingdom, appointed a regent, told the regent that if the French get too uppity again, just let him know, and then went back to Britain for adventuring.

There is a precedent in appointing a regent, just look at Uriens and Bagdemagus thread in this very subforum. :)

In 4th Ed., the ruler of Ganis is Pharien de Trebes, Steward of Ganis... but this is before the Second French War, 531 AD, and he is a vassal of King Claudas of the Franks.

You got it: regents.
Read Malory and see that there are many, many kings riding around doing adventure
I do, however, siphon off most of the de Ganis guys to Gaul
