View Full Version : Newbie question: which version of the GPC is most up-to-date?

I'm about to purchase KAP 5.1 and the GPC. My preference is for physical hardcover books.

That's not a problem for KAP, as I see I can order it that way from Drivethru. However, the GPC is only available as a softcover.

On the other hand, I see that I can buy a circa 2005 hardcover printing of the GPC on eBay. After taking out a second mortgage, judging by the prices...

On the other other hand, the version of GPC available on Drivethru was last updated on November 8, 2013. My question is this: Does "updated" mean that it incorporates errata from after the hardcover printing? If so, I guess I'll go with the softcover.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, if you saw an update, some errata must have been issued. See my recent comments in at the bottom of this thread (http://nocturnal-media.com/forum/index.php?topic=2296.0) regarding the virtues of PDF versions, too!

Thanks for the clarification. I will consider what you said in the other thread about PDFs.

Helllo Villein When I got the book thier was no problems with the GPC and ran a few sessions here in tuscon at hat's games store for internatinal Table top day using 5th edtion rules, sinse that is the lastest I have updated I also had no problems at all with the hardiness of the soft cover print version and has held up for over a year of constant game use. I am currently running any where between 1 to 7 campgains a month with it in various periods, new players I start them off in the Uther period for my other long term players we decided to pick up in the years that we left off on though I have had to back track some to get in some peices of info they might have missed, but that is easy to find out through an intreage check. Any ways I too posted more comments then this in the other thread as well that Taliesin mentioned earlier.

Thanks for your comments, captainhedges! It's good to hear that the softcover holds up so well.

I actually decided to hold off on buying the game for now. I ordered the Penguin Classics two-volume Le Morte D'Arthur, and it arrived yesterday. I'm going to read it first.

I also been using the GPC to play with my cousin online and as well as a few groups here in Tucson AZ and it has held up well! Have fun reading!
