Wherein we shall discuss the various Sections within the Individual template, the tags needed and so on. I'm at work now so more later from me. But I'd be interested to see what folks have placed in their:

I created two distinct templates [Knight] and [Lady] figuring 98% of the nobles and important folks will fall under that. Also, I don't gum up the default Individual template by doing so. So here is how I laid them out. I was originally going to change Lady around quite a bit but decided to keep the Knight format since many ladies will be landholders or nearly so in their own right.

Some suggestions:
1.0 overview.
You could add a simple picture of the coat of arms here.
Prominent traits: I would keep that all under one heading (3). there you give the full range of the character.

4.0, 4.4, 7, 8: I use the relationship option to link the various characters. So I have not an entry of liege lord.
I use the links between manors as a way to describe vassalage. This because usually the lord and vassal may change, but the link between manor and county remains the same.
For household knights I use the relationship options. The same for spouse, and parent/children relationships.

8.0
I guess the following also need to be added:
Knighted [date]

You're way ahead of me here. I'm keen to do some work with RealmWorks, but haven't had the time to play around with it yet. Reading with interest! How do you make these templates in the program?

:o Doh! Knighted... seriously... I forgot that.

After playing with the Relationship tables, I am not as blown away as I was. It's seems kind clunky without being able to change the actual lines so you can display more than two types at a time. I did use that (Master/Minion) for vassalage also but wanted it all on one page.

Merlin...
-Basically, by copying Cornelius and creating new Categories... Knight and Lady. Just make a duplicate of the Individual Category and alter it for everything you want. I have also created Fortifications, Manors, Domains (Pendragon realms... counties, duchies, kingdoms).

In looking back on it, I realized that I over-detailed things quite a bit. The text entries are much more versatile than I originally realized so I would likely change that if I were to do it over. I do like that I have a lot of information available at hand but it's likely too much... oh well. I cloned Knights and changed it to Lady since they would have many of the same fields. Manors has some Book of Manor stuff in it but nothing too detailed. Fortifications are pretty detailed since I had a lot of caffeine and beer in me at the time. Details defenses, forces, vassals etc. I figure I can also use it for Walled Cities/Towns.

I uncluttered them by unchecking the Auto-Add provision. That way I can add them as needed in each entry.

I'll try and get templates up at some point and some screen shots.

Thanks Kilgs, I'll try and have a play around later tonight.

Do not beat yourself up too much. I did not have them either. also forgot the squired moment. ;)

As for details:
Having a high detail level in the templates is very handy. you can always downgrade and leave things out on the topic level. This works best. If during gameplay you need to add information it will be the same for different topics.

Yeah, I figured out two important things...

Shown v. Auto-Add
-Shown means that the Line/Field is available to add.
-Auto-add means that every Topic you create has it already added.

By adding a bunch of fields but unchecking Auto-Add, those fields can be added by clicking on the Tool icon and going to "For this type" option. As you said, this way they are all arranged correctly.

Also, I discovered that you CAN alter a template after creating individual topics in it. But you have to manually add the additions by using the process above.
