While clearing out some papers I found a photocopy that I'd made years ago concerning King Arthur and North America.
From the book
Do What You Will, A History of Anti-Morality, Geoffrey Ashe; W.H.Allen, 1974; page 30
This is an article about John Dee, who was Queen Elizabeth I's court alchemist, wise man in general, and sometimes spy. He is quite a character on his own and worth learning about.

He believed, or pretended to believe, that King Arthur had conquered "Estoiland and Frisland," of which the latter had been conquered and colonized by King Arthur. These were actually names that early mapmakers had give to black spots on their new global mountains.

Hal Foster also had his Prince Valiant visit the new world, where his wife fore him a son--the first European to be born in the New World, and, if my calculations are correct, pretty close to the place where Foster lived.

All of which has no effect on GPC, but is cool anyway.
And if anyone wants to make a scenario based on that, I would love to see it.

No New World in our campaign, but I have used John Dee as a mold for the Squire Priest: the alchemist who is helping King Mark to prepare for the Battle of the Engine.

The Squire Priest is interested in bat caves in Salisbury for "scientific reasons". In secret he is collecting huge amounts of bat guano to produce enough gunpowder for the Engine. Of course one of those bat-caves are on PKs lands. His enquiries about bat shit appear to be a harmless humor sideplot for the players, but if they let him do his thing, they will see his alchemical magic symbol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monas_Hieroglyphica) again in the gunpowder transports in the Battle of the Engine, reminding them that they have helped the enemy and maybe giving them hints on how to resolve the battle.

In our campaign The Squire Priest plays also a part in "The Stone House Visit" and "The Castle of the Black Hermit" adventures.

Very cool.

I've never had NA in any of my campaigns, either.

on my previous hard drive i had notes on expanding the map to NA in the west and China in the east. (actually we added land to the coast of china for Prester John) Philosophy of Science rantone of my players is going back to school for ether anthropology or archaeology masters and is obsessed with something he calls. the myth of the small brained ancestor. the theory is that the idea that people in our current post modern educational paradigm are no more intelligent than our post renaissance forebearers. that much like the stories of Roman lions eating Christians, Roman orgies, Savage indians or the concept of a "Dark age"; we create Socio-political fictions to bury the out of vogue paradigm End rant

the is at least enough evidence of Dark ages World wide contact to make an interesting story if not a compelling argument. my note now consist of little more than wiki links in a google doc but three of them that i had show up in games are the Dorset(inuit not english)-thule legand: "Inuit legends recount them driving away people they called the Tuniit (singular Tuniq) or Sivullirmiut (First Inhabitants). According to legend, the First Inhabitants were "giants", people who were taller and stronger than the Inuit, but who were easily scared off.[1] Scholars now believe the Dorset and the later Thule people were the peoples encountered by the Norse who visited the area. The Norse called these indigenous peoples skræling." i set this in 520

an irish legend tells of monks setting sail north west to somewhere i've also had a native Shaman pop up in dreams. but my players are loath to leave Britain
