Hi,
one of my players wanted to buy this improvement from table 8-8. However, I couldn't find any information on this either in the Rulebook, the forums or the book of the manor (where a simple hall is listed as costing £13 + £2). So, what exactly is this? Doesn't every player already have simple manor hall like in book of the manor? I get the chimney, not every house might have one, but what exactly is meant by this entry, especially since it is comparably cheap (only £2!).
My temporary ruling was that this is the repair cost for when the hall is damaged, but why isn't it under renovations or (a new entry for) repair then? I'm puzzled.

Yes, the PKs start with their manor houses, but they tend to be made of wood, and wood burns when there are nasty Saxons around. :)

£13 is the cost of building the manor.
£2 is the cost of the furnishings (furniture and stuff).

So if your manor gets burned to the ground with everything inside, you have to pay £15 to have everything rebuilt and replaced. I hope this makes it clearer.

EDIT: Duh. You meant the Knight's Manor Hall in the rulebook, Table 8-8, costing £2. I chalk it up to a historical artifact, belonging to the time when castles were cheap (because castles are cool) and every self-respecting PK had at least a fortified tower or something in his backyard (because each knight should have a castle!). If you look at the Castle Construction prices, those are insanely cheap, too. Book of the Manor has much more realistic prices and I recommend you will simply ignore that Table 8-8 even exists if you are have BotM. Also, see the note in BotM p. 20, where Greg explains why the prices have increased by a factor of 5.
