I was recently made aware of Something About a Sword and a Stone (http://www.amazon.com/Something-About-Sword-Stone-Arthur-ebook/dp/B00LAKWHH8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409789846&sr=8-1&keywords=something+about+a+sword+and+a+stone), the first book in the series Arthur Dies At The End. It's a retelling of Le Morte d'Arthur, retelling as in the guy having read it and telling you the story over lunch. It does not take itself too seriously. And, it's only 99 cents on Kindle.

I'm still early on, but it might be my favorite interpretation of Malory since Arthur, King of Time and Space (http://www.arthurkingoftimeandspace.com/).
