My campaign has just reached the death of Gorlois.
1.I note that the Duchy is disbanded, but who takes over as ruler of the County of Cornwall?
2. A Salisbury based PC in my group ( but a second son so not one who has a manor in Salisbury) who spent time garrisoning Cornwall met a lady whose husband died fighting for Gorlois and now she is a widow - possibly seeking protection a la Ygraine. I figure the knight needs Earl Roderick's permission to marry if it comes to that - but who else? And would he then Have to swear fealty to someone else & move to Cornwall?

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

No one. Uther divides Uthers holdings on several lesser nobles. And I thought that was in PGC, but I can't find it, so it's not a "fact", just my take on the situation. Remember that Uther is depressed and tired of those bothersome Dukes.

Her new Lord, however that is. Probably one of Uthers' stewards, or perhaps the King himself?

And he will not have to live in Cornwall if he already has a manor, but he will have to supply a knight to his new Lord. Which might become uncomfortable in 497-98 when Gorlois' old Duchy falls to King Idres ...

Thanks for the guidance, I think I will have Uther make Sir Brastias the widows lord - he was there in Tintagel, he survives and he is referred to in GPC in 511 as a knight banneret of Cornwall.

And as it's a second son without a manor in Salisbury ( a back up character) I suspect he will move to Cornwall - which as you say will be interesting for the main character to have a brother in Cornwall in a few years time.

Thats a good choice. I would say that Brastias looses his cornish possession to Idres in the late 490:ies - and after that, we know, he becomes a mercenary knight during the rest of the Anarchy era. It's a good character to have in a campaign.

Yeah. He could try to get Countess Ellen [if you are running a Salisbury campaign] to get embroiled in the Cornish Chaos during the Anarchy era, to help his brother regain his land (assuming that things go as they go in PGC of course.

GPC page 55 under temporary assignment gives the information that no new duke is appointed.
Here he appoints as sir Thebert as the warden of Terrabil. you could also use him, but Brastias is also an option.
