The great Sir Alric (glory 11,000) slayer of kings, dukes, and pretty anything that got in his way. Among his victims: Duke Gorlois, King Octa, Aethling Cynric, and an unnamed Pict King.

Alric went down against a famous Lothian knight, so I figured I would ask... does Lot have any famous knights?
(Obviously his sons eventually, but they're a bit too young)

Answering my own question: Sir Balin. (He's a knight of Northumberland, one of Lot's allies)

Minor nitpicky point, Northumberland doesn't exist during Arthur's time. I think it corresponds most closely to Nohaut/Sorestan or Garloth, in Pendragon geography.

Even then, he is not Lothian... Alas, I can't think of a knight of the top of my head who'd be. Then again, nothing prevents you from coming up with a knight on your own. After all, unless your players are seriously Arthurian buffs, they are unlikely to recognize more than a handful of the Big Names of the Round Table.

Good to know. The GPC does make a few references to Northumberland and it's king, non-existent though it may be. (Lancelot kills him, naturally)

Fortunately my players aren't any better versed in British geography than I am. I'll probably go with him being from Garloth.

I should have said "northern" knights rather than Lothian, basically someone who would have been on Lot's side during the battle of Bedegraine. (and not one of the Kings)

I wasn't necessarily expecting there to be any named famous northern knights, I was more curious then anything.

So it does! Thanks for pointing it out. My brain must have blacked it out.

"Northumberland" should be simply "land north of Humber", which is a bit too vague to be of much use.

Northumbria was the Anglo-Saxon kingdom prior to the 9th century, when it was conquered by the Great Army of the Vikings. It would most accurately correspond to Malahaut in geography, although at its greatest extent, it would encompass Nohaut/Sorestan, Garloth and even Lothian.

I would make 'King/Lord of Northumberland' the King of Nohaut. He is a minor figure enough that Lancelot killing him would fit. Also, I think Dolorous Garde has been identified in GPC as in Nohaut. See year 547, when Lancelot's madness and absence causes a rebellion in Nohaut.

Yep, Northumberland (in 1st edition map) is exactly where Nohaut is, so I'd call this 100% confirmed. :)

The only problem is that Ethfrida has been identified earlier in GPC as the Queen of Nohaut from 518-548 (also in 4th Edition). But that is easy enough to ignore, as she doesn't appear in the adventures. She could be moved to be the Queen of Sorestan, which is actually South of Humber... I made a mistake earlier conflating it and Nohaut.
