Hi

I am new to this forum but I have played Pendragon previously for years but I am about to start playing in a new campaign soon

I am trying to come up with a different Character concept as I have played quite a few characters before and I have enjoyed them all immensely however I wish to play something new so I was trawling through this forum and other Pendragon sites trying to find inspiration, when I stumbled across a notation about Spear Expertise

I have a copy of the 4 & 5th ed Rules but I can't find any information about Spear Expertise (which I think I found mentioned on this forum)

Does anyone know what Spear Expertise is?

Spear Expertise is a 5th edition skill found in the BOOK OF KNIGHTS AND LADIES, that can be ordered through Greg's website. It makes Cymric Player knights quite a bit better than your average knight. :)

No wonder I couldn't find Spear Expertise, as I don't have access to a copy of The Book of Knights & Ladies

I have just looked at Greg's Website and it states under the Book of Knights & Ladies that it is currently unavailable and that it will be offered as a pdf through White Wolf in the future

Anyone know when this might happen?

Is the Book of Knights & Ladies worth while (being in Australia it will be expensive to buy with the exchange rates & postage inclusive) and if so how much does it expand Character creation compared to the 3rd ed books such as Knights Adventurous, etc or is it the equivalent of these books for 5th ed?

Well, I think it is worth the money (even with the $11 Postage).
As I was preparing playing characters for my Pendragon game at Tentacles, I used it extensively for the first time, and I was surprised and delighted. Normally it takes me about an hour to make a character. But now all the charts and tables, and the rules, are there in one place, and I was able to make a character in about half an hour. And there are all these exotic knights from faraway places, with the proper background, and interesting new rules.
As I sadi, I like it.

Adds some real flavour and makes knights a lot more unique.

What he said - had the first chance to use it with my group recently as a number needed new characters. What looks on paper to be quite dry was in fact great fun to use, fast and logical.
