For those of you who may not have access to our Facebook page: (https://www.facebook.com/officialpendragon?pnref=lhc)

Here's a sneak peak of the soon-to-be-released BOOK OF UTHER (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2teqedzucpwi3bu/Uther-intro.pdf?dl=0). We're really excited about this title, the third (and last) in a series of books on the nobility in the time of King Uther Pendragon. This time we look at the workings of the Royal Court and provide additional details about the King and his retinue, the royal demesne, the King's Progress, and the Sheriffs of Logres. And then there's that small matter of The Great Pendragon Campaign expansion. Yep — we're extending the GPC by five more years to include the first part of Uther's tumultuous reign from 480 to 484, wherein he conquers Bedegraine and annexes Summerland. Lots of great never-before-seen material in this one!

We're almost done with the book, and we'll post an announcement here as soon as it's available.

I am starting the GPC mid-November. Any chance the book will be out by then?

Congratulations!

The book is being indexed now. We hope to release it for press proofs this week! Hopefully it will be available by the end of the month, barring any production SNAFUs we can't foresee.

Best,

Thank you. Digesting Book of Warlords right now, and there are a lot of references to Book of Uther

The addition of 480-484 to the GPC is very exciting. Does this change the overall start date for when the "default" PCs are intended to be knighted, or are these years intended to be played by either a default PC's father or with the PC knights as squires? Definitely looking forward to getting my hands on this one.

As you wish, of course, but the 'default' assumption is to start with 21 year old knights, just 5 years earlier. Which, of course, should push the birthdates back if using the KAP 5.1 family history that assumes a starting date of 485. Including the fathers', since I seem to recall that as a default they are something like 23 or so when the PKs are born.

Playing as squires would be possible, but then you will miss out on all the early Uther Period Battles and other fun stuff, since squires are more or less sidelined in those.

Actually, let me make a post on the Game Play subforum, on how I would deal with the expansion. Easier for people to find it there, I think.

My first impression (bought and read it today) is that it duplicates a lot of Book of Warlord. Unless you are a completist, I'd spend $5 on GPC expansion and buy Book of Warlord and skip this one. That being said, it does go very in depth into Uther and his court

OK, I re-read both books and there is not as much overlap as I first thought. Much of the duplication is maps, and that makes sense. But Uther is so detailed, that I probably won't use half of it. It probably belongs in the serious GM's toolkit

It's interesting that you cite a duplication of maps. There are 16 all-new maps in UTHER and only three of them thematically overlap with prior publications — the map of Britain, th County Castles of Logres, and the Royal Castles of Logres. Even then these were updatd to show the state of things in 480...
