Played with the latest version (blue paper) of the revised Battle System. Wow. I think we're almost there, folks! It very smoothly, and the few times I thought something was missing, Greg said, No, look on page so-and-so... We didn't get to use the new Battle Record Sheet, but I'm told that's also a good deal better too.
Greg, when are you going to post these on weareallus.com?

Our group has been lucky enough to follow their development too. I'm not sure I know which version the 'blue paper' one is having received ours by email ;) but I would agree with you - they play very well indeed. A hit with me certainly. If anyone is interested, there is an account of our last battle fought with them here: http://www.pendragonchronicles.org.uk/anarchy/503ii.html. It doesn't talk about the mechanics in too much detail as that is for Greg to reveal as and when he is ready, in the format that he choses, but I hope it gives a little flavour of the results!

The new Battle system is one of the things I've been looking forward to ever since it was first mentioned. I've tweaked the default version several times to try and get it to work better, but it's never completely satisfactory.
Just a shame my own campaign is over now... Ah well, when people are willing to give it another go however many years down the line I'll at least have the new battle system from the start.

You've got me thinking now. I suspect that when the rules are finally released it would be possible to run an internet demonstration game. I don't think you'd need to have everyone online at the same time, as long as folks committed to responding to replying to posts within a day (or risk the GM rolling for them!) I would imagine it would be easy enough to do it here somewhere, to give people a taste of how it works. What do you reckon Greg?

I'd be interested in that online demo thingy.

Greg also has let me have a copy of the new system. I would love to give it a try as there a few spots where I am not completely at ease with the new ideas, especially intensity.

I've also gotten to play around quite a bit with the developing battle system, and I think that the latest revision plays very smoothly. We tend to run into complications with extended rounds, but more often than not that is the result of our biting off more than we should.
I think that a demonstration could be easy enough to do. - I would be happy to help our or participate :)

Hi Gents,
This sounds pretty cool and very positive.
Is this new battle system going to be a freebie or part of another supplement by Greg?
Cheers,
Steve

It is part of the theoretical Book of the Battle, actually.
It's about 18,000 words right now, in its long and pedantic version. That does not include the Battle Enemy Tables, and a few bells and whistles.
There is no time scheduled for it to be done and/or released.

e.g so don't hassle me you impatient git. ;)
Sounds good and look forward to it.
I am sure this has been asked and I know there are some issues with WW, but is there still and intention to release Manors and Nobles as a pdf.

Intentions, yes; plans, now.
I wish I could be more optimistic, but at the moment, I am as much in limbo as everyone.
