I've decided to start a mini series of topics, where I ask some questions/issues that came up in play this same night.
Episode 2
Session Synopsis:
Wrapped up last year by completing first Winter Phase. Defended a small farming village from ~35 bandits. Gravely outnumbered, but won the skirmish with superior forces (all PKs and NPKs were mounted against bandits).
Unfortunately, the bandits managed a whopping 4 crits against the PKs, making them all require Chirurgery and an end to the year.
Issue 1: I used the new Winter Phase economic tables in the GPC to decide what happen to my PKs. Their lands had no mods, so I assumed a Bad Weather 10 and a Stewardship 10 (is this right for your average manor steward?). One PK went from Rich to Poor instantly due to a crit Bad Weather and a success for Stewardship. Did I handle all this right?
Question 2: How do you decide what the players can purchase/buy? I made the assumption that when the PK's clothing diminished in value, the Rich PK could afford to buy new clothes, while the others couldn't. Do I assume that characters with Normal/Ordinary status can only feed themselves and upkeep their manor (hence no new clothes, horses, squires, etc)?
Issue 3: It says excessive spending gains 1 Glory for every 1L spent this way. I assumed that my Rich PK would have spent a few L to more lavishly treat himself and his manor (the new clothes), so I gave him a bonus 5 Glory for the year.
Issue 4: The bonus points from Glory are pretty confusing. Obviously with the first Winter Phase, the knights received 1000+ Glory, so that was an easy 1 bonus point. The way I understand it, PKs only gain bonus points based on how much Glory they earn that current year ("This Game" on the character sheet). But you receive 1 point for having at least 1000 total Glory regardless.
Examples
++ K1 has 1400 glory and gains 500 in the year. He earns 2 points, because the 500 rounds to 1000.
++ K2 has 1400 glory and gains 100 in the year. He earns 1 point. (Or does this make his glory 1500, which will round to 2000, which gives him another point? Augh math!)
++ K3 has 2100 glory and gains 100 in the year. He earns 1 point (because he only gained 100 this game?).
Issue 5: My first skirmish went well... minus all my PKs unexpectedly getting hacked to pieces and I had to end the year prematurely. Here's some questions in order of skirmish events:
++ PKs and company charges, against one bandit each. If they don't kill their enemy, do they continue to attack that enemy or find a new one next round?
++ I go around the table resolving each PK's combat. If a certain PK previously killed their opponent(s), I have them roll a Battle check. Success = one new opponent or other option (withdraw or help a friend). Fail = two new opponents. No one critted the Battle but if they did I would've let them engage the bandit leader (stats of an average knight). I stopped the combat rounds after about 3 or 4 times around the table. Did I handle this right?
++ Rolled Follower's Fate for the unit commander of the PKs, got a success. The bandits fled the field with heavy losses, one NPK was wounded heavily (8% wounded). Sound good?
Well it's wicked late, so that's all I can remember for now. If I think of any other questions I'll post again under this topic.
Thanks for all the help so far with my other posts. Hopefully you guys won't get tired of me asking all these questions ;D
