It's been emotional...

After four and a half years of play, we have finally completed the GPC.

Lovers, Fighters, Lords, Faerie, Base born who became true knights, And Highborn who became base.

The Final session is still to be written up, but the tale so far should keep you going in the meantime...

Congrats!

We started... oh, 2001 or so? With 4th edition and the Boy King, with 503 - 509 Prequel that I found in the interwebs. We have just reached the Great Betrayal, and the players are seeing the Round Table tear itself apart, with 4 PKs having been with Mordred and Agravaine to arrest Lancelot. Thanks to some house ruled 'fate points', two of those four managed to survive and capture Lancelot. Who, alas, was sprung from his jail cell by the other de Ganis knights the same night.

Gratz. Hope to get there as well some day. We are currently nearing the end of the anarchy, so still a lot to go. ;)

Many compliments, Dan!!! I'm officially envious of your achievement.

Two questions, one for Dan and one for Morien:

- Dan: I've accessed your GPC blog and plan to follow it with my own GPC play. Do you remember from where did you take the different adventures? Some of them have a title, and I were able to trace them down; but some didn't (for example, the kidnapped child scenario in 485 before the battle of Mearcred Creek).

- Morien: do you remember where the "503 - 509 Prequel [to the Boy King] that I found in the interwebs" can be found now? If not, can you give me some other details (author? important scenarios?) to help me find it?

Thanks,

Roberto

While I am not Dan, it looked like a homebrew adventure to me.

Alas, that was back in 2001 or so, when I was still doing more of the pen and paper stuff and printed the campaign out. And that was several moves, computers and hard drives ago. I am sure I would recognize it if I saw it again, but alas, I have even forgotten the author's name in the intervening years.

In any case, it would not be GPC compliant, as Robert was already a grown man in 503, and the Anarchy aspects were somewhat underplayed in comparison to GPC (perhaps because there was a strong, adult Earl around). It did have Nanteleod not as the King of Escavalon, but the King of Belgae in Venta Belgarum (Winchester), which was a city heading for ruin. Robert made an alliance with his Belgic kinsman, and was practically adopted by the old king, the king's son having died in 496 at the defense of Hantonne, if I recall correctly. The Battle of Venta Belgarum happened right after the Beltaine, the Beltaine fires having masked the warning beacons, allowing the Saxons to march their army almost to the gates of Venta Belgarum and forcing the Cymric defenders to rouse themselves from drunken stupor in all haste.

Hi Mandrill,

I should make it clear, I am not the GM of the campaign, merely one of the start to finish Players. (The Woodfords were my lot, Sir Owain Woodford and his line, Finishing with Earl Cormalaunt of Jagent.)

Our GM Max, is more than capable of whipping up adventures of his own, so much of it may have sprung from his own imagination, stitched into the broader tapestry of the GPC. One of his great strengths is being able to flex the framework to Accommodate PK Actions. Lots of the adventures happened when they did because we chose to tackle them then & There, or deferred them for as long as we could, and sometimes longer than we should.

After the Woodford's developed their deep seated fear of marshes, it took a lot longer to get around to some adventures than it might have done.. :)

The anarchy was my favourite of all the periods, It was the one where we made the greatest mark on the destiny of britain.

and in an Odd twist of Fate, I now live in Salisbury, not two hours ride from My Characters' original Estate.

So the first and last of the woodford line, on the Church Font they were baptised in,

and the view of the rise on which woodford castle was built.

That's great. :)

I got a kick out of travelling through Salisbury Plains (on the way to Stonehenge, the Cathedral and Bath) and seeing the familiar manor names pop up in road signs. :)
