Generally in KAP, more is better, i.e. yay +10! But in Battle it's the opposite, i.e. yay lower intensity!

So if the GPC says "Arthur's forces greatly outnumbered: -10" do you just flip that for starting intensity, i.e. +10?

Yes, since in BoB2, p. 19 on Opening Intensity:
"Outnumber/ed 5 to 1 -10/+10"
