OK!
My maps of the counties of Logres and their hundreds are now available
Go to http://gspendragon.com/ and click onto "What's New"

As I said before, some of them are more finished than others. I will be updating the unfinished ones as time allows

The finished ones also contain the £ Value for each hundred

If you need a specific county, list is below and I'll try to get to it first

Greg, in the Clarence hundreds you ask about the river. It is River Avon (one of a few named thusly in Britain, not the same as Salisbury Avon).

Greg,
you list the finished maps with the name "KAP6"....does it mean that there is a 6th edition coming?

Much thanks Greg! These are informative and give enough detail that even without the render for most of them, it could be reasonably extrapolated. (Or, researched....)

Maps tell stories, and here there are many!

Greg,

At this stage it means that they were being prepared for publication sometimes after KAP5.
:+)
Anyone who has followed my career knows that I am always tinkering and never satisfied with what has been published, so in a sense, I am always working on the next edition.

I'm eyeing Wuerensis covetously for a new campaign setting. "The Red Tower" is too badass a name and convenient a location to NOT use. Thanks Greg!

FYI,
In past publications I have stated that Arthur gives Red Tower [Kenilworth] to an organization called, I believe, Knights of Boudicca, or some such, obviously an organization for women knights. I remember it as being a vivid brick-color, hence its name.

YPWV, of course, so don't let my plans ruin a good scenario for you. Although also, several other red castles are in Britain too.

EDIT: Sorry, a small correction. The Boudicea's Daughters info comes from 4th edition, and the date of the Anglish invasion 500 (I misremembered) comes from GPC.

Boadicea's Daughters, their origins being in the flight of the Iceni nobility (and the loss of their menfolk) after the Anglish invasion of 501. In 4th edition, they are said to hold the castle from Earl of Wuerensis (implication being that they got it pretty soon after 501), but given how the noble landholdings have changed, having Arthur granting them that perhaps after Terrabil (but before Badon, when Anglia is reconquered) would make more sense.

Wuerensis/Lambor area is quite splintered during the Anarchy, so if your game is set thereabouts, the castle could house who knows what.

And, like Greg already said, YPWV. :)

I have something vaguely similar to that in my PbP to explain female vassal knights. Long ago, when Boadicea was raising hell against the romans in revenge against the annexation of the Iceni, her public flogging, and the rape of her daughters, she appointed several score female captains for her army, in symbolic defiance of the intensely patriarchal Romans. Not all of them were exterminated along with the rebellion. Many fled, and found shelter and support from the indigenous coloni, who viewed them not only as heroes, but proxies for Boadicea herself, and found permanent position as de facto community leaders, under the pretense, as far as the romans were concerned, that these women were 'Priestesses'. In time, their daughters, granddaughters, and so on, would be cheiftesses in all but name, and in the chaos following the roman abandonment, take the name as well. They were formally recognized by High King Constantin, and awarded knighthood by Aurelius Ambrosius. Female Knights are codified thus:

1. They cannot knowingly answer service of arms whilst pregnant, but must send another in their place.

2. The inheritance to lands of the female knight that are held in that nature from time before reckoning shall favor the female, all other lands the male.

3. Female Knights shall hold all other rights and dignities of the order of knighthood and the King's Laws as if they were male, and be rightly adressed "Sir".

The preferred husbands of Female Knights in my universe tend to be Bachelor Knights, Stewards, or Merchants, although there remains a tradition for an unmarried knightess to issue a challenge to her commoners: whichever man can lift a given log above his head and carry it the farthest may wed her.

These are some excellent ideas, and just the kinds of discussions a good map can generate!

I'm going to lift several of these and make use in my own efforts. Thanks!

Would there be a problem with marrying a merchant?

Would there be a problem with marrying a merchant?

This is getting way off topic, but knights typically marry within their station (daughters of knights) or up (daughters of lords), if they're lucky. My rule is "never say never," but a knight marrying a merchant's daughter would be a rare occurrence — almost certainly a story of true love that will not be denied. For more on marrying, including awesome random, but well thought-out marriage tables, see the Book of the Entourage.
