I need a bit of help finding something, which I thought was in the KAP books but may have been online campaign bits.

I thought I read about an (optional) order of female knights blessed by Ambrosius from the estate of a baroness in Wuerensis.... That's all I have. It's not, I think, in the main KAP book, and searches on the forum don't turn up anything.

Am I mad? Have I conflated others' campaign details again? Point me please to the published source if it exists....

Thanks!

4th edition, Boudicea's Daughters, given Kenilworth by the Earl of Wuerensis, not Ambrosius.

Thanks Morien! That's it. I think I was confusing the timing by the when of the Iceni being pushed out by Angles.

I do not have this edition, but this does sound interesting.
Morien, can you post something about "Boudicea's Daughters". When was the order founded? What was needed to join the order? Other details.
It would be much appreciated.

4th edition doesn't give firm dates. The Iceni noblewomen are exiled from Anglia by the Anglish invasion (501 in GPC), and many of them take up arms. A few years later, a Cambrian warrior woman Colomb Not-A-Lady organizes them into a coherent group, Boudicea's Daughters. Then the next thing is the Earl of Wuerensis granting them Kenilworth.

Personally, I would make Colomb an Iceni noblewoman (why on Earth would the Iceni women need an outsider to organize, if they have already taken up arms?) and have them organize right after the disaster of losing their menfolk. They guard the refugees as they flee Anglia, and go to Nanteleod as their best chance to rebuild their lives & guard their families. They fight for Nanteleod, and when he takes over Wuerensis (503?), he gives Kenilworth to them in recognition for their help (or maybe in 505, as a partial recompense as he is unable to drive the Angles out of Icenia/Caerwent right this moment). Although I might be tempted to make them head to [Wherever the PKs are] instead, and have to wait until Arthur to get Kenilworth. Lots of unmarried, young warrior women, albeit with little to no dowries (save for their equipment) and an independent streak a mile-wide. What's not to like? :)

The order essentially operates like warrior-ess monks. In that they tend the land and protect it (for the Earl, presumably), welcome women and children, treat men kindly but with a firm hand, and if they marry leave the order. It's a big sister-hood of ladies who want to take things into their own hands.

The sanitized medieval view of fighting women would probably have all Britain be agast, but Celtic traditions, history and practicality say otherwise. Women especially in the period tend to do what they must to survive, and if that means chopping heads instead of cabbages? So be it.
