I made a thing.
I always considered horses to be too boring and mechanical in Pendragon, considering how important they are in a knights life. To add some flavour to the game I've added house rules (yay!). I've also drawn descriptive coat-color images for the horses in the table.

Please feel free to use these if you feel like it.
Edit: I realized this should probably be moved to the House Rules section, please feel free to move it!

Thanks! It was a bit of a chore to draw all the horses, but it was fun delving down into horse genetics for some time. :) If nothing else I can better describe horses in play now.
There are still some details in the horse rules that needs fidgeting, such as a better way to keep track of the heard and the horses in new sheets. And probably some tweaking of the traits table. When you go through a few horses in a short time "oh, another leaper" might become a thing.
Edit: Also, thanks for the interest. :) We're on a bit of a break now till december because of real life issues. But looking forward to getting back to it!

Cool table.
I always felt horses needed to be mechanically more interesting, but the only thing I've done is change how the bonus for using them works and the extra damage of a lance charge.
When mounted instead of +5/-5 you use the DMG value of your horse to set the amount. So a charger is +/-6 and thus if you have a better horse than another rider you get a net advantage.
When charging I give everyone +1d6 damage and additionally add the DMG value of the horse as a bonus. So a 5d6dmg knight charging from the back of a charger deals 6d6+6 damage.

Nice work.
One question: Do you use the modifier also to the color? So a noble never has a bay charger?

Well, yes an no. It's storyteller discretion.
It depends on what horses was used to "better" the herd.
If the player receives a horse as a gift from the king, I'd grant him the color bonus. If he simply get's it from a regular herd for a lord, it'd not give it. It depends. But I'd rather be generous about it if it enhances the feeling. How often do you get really cool horses? It's quite possible to get a horse with cool color, but less good traits.
I probably should make that more clear in the text.
