Creating Lady characters:
- Am I supposed to use the same father's class/page tables that knights use to create a lady character?
- There's a checklist for when a squire is "knight material", when is a lady character "wife material"?

Glory from high skills/traits/passions etc:
1) When creating a character you gain past glory from all high statistics. A one time glory award equal to the value if over 15. So generating a skill of 18 will net you past glory of 51 (16+17+18). I seem to recall reading somewhere this was supposed to replace annual glory for high statistics. Is that so? If so, what happens when a trait drops from 17 to 16 and goes up again?

2) Chapter 3: Personality, Traits and Passions, page, 65 says this: "Glory. Any dramatic pattern of behavior gains Glory. Characters with interesting personalities generally gain more Glory than those without. However, behavior in accord with society’s ideals gains more Glory than idiosyncrasies."

Seems to suggest that traits earn glory somehow, but doesn't explain how. Next, page 66 under Using Traits and Passions and subtitle Heroic Traits or Passions: "The threshold value for gaining Glory and reputation from a trait or passion is 16."

Still no mention of this is one time glory or annual glory.

3) Page 78, bottom left under "benefits and disadvantages" of "using passions" there's a short mention that you gain annual glory for all passions of 16 and above equal to their value (just like Pendragon) "Famous passions generate Glory. Each winter, a character receives Glory for most high-value passions. Only passions with a value of 16 or more generate Glory, and several restrictions and exceptions apply."

What are those restrictions and exceptions?

4) Chapter 4 does not mention any annual glory from high statistics. I was pleasantly surpriced by the enchanted item rule and I'll incorporate that into my Pendragon game right away. Cool idea!

So... how is glory supposed to work? Same as Pendragon? Or annual for anything 16 and over? Would help if the rulebook uses similar language in each chapter where the matter is discussed, right now each chapter uses different frases and it's hard to locate where the rules are (not that it clarified things much).

Anyway, love the book. It's pretty. Subject matter is fascinating. You've packed a lot in and these are minor irregularities, but they chafe. :P

Hello Micge,

Sorry for my late answer (I somehow managed to miss this post).

1) A score that is lowered and then raised over 15 again does not gain Glory twice. (I keep track of players' Glory history in a file.)

2) Something got messed up in the editing phase. My intention is that ALL scores which increase above 15 gain one-time Glory equal to their new value. So if Courtesy is raised to 17, you gain 17 Glory (once).

3) There are no longer annual Glory awards for Passions and Traits. Only the three Ideals, i.e. romantic, chivalric and pious knights, gain 100 Glory per year for maintaining their Ideal.

I hope they'll do a clarifying edit before the paper book comes out...

Yes.

Simply when she comes of age. Generally at 14, but if you find that too young you can make it 16.
