Is a unit that recoils into their own zone 2 (or 1) automtically disengaged?

Is there ever combat in noncombat zones 1 and 2?

No. The unit result mu also say that they are disengaged.
If your unit is pushed that far back, then the enemy will pursue if possible, engaged all the wa.

Yes, whenever it is forced by units entering it.
Any zone with combat units fighting becomes a combat zone.
