Just had a second look, and although it started at 99p it has a reserve on. Also the seller boasts that these go for over £100 on ebay / amazon. It doesn't look it will be worthwhile, while you can stil get the pdf version.
Agreed. You can get the pdf printedfor about $.05 per page at most print shops and most shops will duplex (ie double side) the pages for no additional cost. On a 400 page book, that means using 200 pages or about $10. For another $5 you can easily get it bound. Of course, all that assumes b-w, not color.
Besides, with new printings on the horizon it doesn't seem wise to invest 100 quid in a book that will probably be available for less than half that shortly.

I bought the PDF version a few years back.
Printed off the covers and maps in color and did the rest in B/W. Not a problem since the text is B/W and the art grayscale, anyway.I brought it down to Kinko's and had them spiral bound it and put plastic covers on it, making it somewhat spill resistant.
All in all, I think the PDF is the best way to go. For one thing my spiral bound KAP5 book is holding up better than the spine of my hard cover GPC book. And PDFs allow me to print off stuff I need form the book for handouts or GM reference sheets easily.
Oh, and if it matters, I think one of my local gaming shops still has a copy of KAP5 on the shelves. If someone is interested I can check to see if it is still there. I'm sure they would be willing to mail it to someone, and it would certainly be cheaper than £100.

It will be good news for someone if the copy is still there.
I think that there has been a disconect with the supply and demand of KAP5. Wherever people want it, its nowhere to be found.
However, it can be found in odd places here and there and few people know its value.
I the UK, PoD is not cheap and you can easily spend more on printing and binding can cost more than cover price on the deadtree version (if you can find one).
I did get a pdf version of GPC before I found the book, and I have to say, the episodic nature of means that I can print off a few pages at a time and I even get scrap paper for notes.

You are right about that!
What happens in my area is that most of the gamers play D&D. The local stores tend to buy a copy or two of other RPGs to see what develops a following. What doesn't tends to sit on the shelf and collect dust. I've seen a few things that are rare/going for a bundle on a shelf or tucked away in bin. I probably would have picked up the book, if I had had the patience to wait. Instead I bought the PDF at DriveThru for instant gratification.
Part of me misses the somewhat better print quality of a professional product, but overall I think the PDF was probably the best way to go. The PDF book seems a bit more durable than the hardback book, and spiral books lie flat when open. The ability to "cut & paste" stuff makes it a lot easier to print off NPC stats, too. I'm printing up index card with stats for the various grades of knights, saxons, bandits, and so on. PDF simplifies the process immensely.
And with a PDF I have a backup in case of misfortune. I once had a few Pendragon books suffer water damage in a flooded basement. I would have been nice to have just printed off replacements for the damaged books.
Heck, they might even have a copy of the GPC hanging around at the normal retail price.

I agree with you. I'm getting to appreciate the usefulness of PDF's but hot damn, I do love the original product! The weight, volume, gravity, sheer heftiness and feel of the pages. I even love the smell of the GPC!

That's surprising. The going rate for print on demand in the US is 5¢ a page, which ends up being about 2.6p.
I don't want break any copyright laws, but if it's legal I'd be glad to run down to the local print shop and get a copy printed up to send to you. I'm not sure what post from the US to the UK is these days, but you can send postage and printing costs via paypal.
Actually, I'm probably running by there later on this evening, so I can check to see if you can just deal with them via email directly.

Rob. No need. I'm ok on both counts KAP5 and GPC. I was just making a reference to printing costs.
Last time, I think I was charged 5p a page +VAT. Binding was about £3.50. So a 400p book like gpc would be about £28 give or take. If you factor in the cost of a colour cover, cost of PDF you are well over cover price.
Colour printing is a joke. I had two rangemaps for 3:16 printed double sided on A3 and laminated. I was expecting £5. I was charged £12.

No worries. The offer stands though, for you or anyone else who can't access a print shop, reasonably priced, or otherwise. I like something like 3 miles from an Office Depot (American office supply chain) and it's right next to the grocery, so I go by several times a week. I've dropped pdfs (as well as pages I've printed at home) dozens of times before going to the grocery and they've always had them bound and read by the time I get done.
I'm always up to do nice things and earn good karma (although I think the continued existence of Pat Robertson disproves the existence of karma).

I think you just got a check. Whether it is in Love (Pendragon), Love (RPG Original Product Books) or Love (Goldfinger) is the question. :o
You were trying to paraphrase the bit from Goldfinger, right? :-[

No, that was totally unintentional. That must have bubbled up from the darkest recesses of my memory of movies watched a long time ago!
At least you compared me to Auric Goldfinger and not Goldmember!:)
Hopefully I got a check for the first two traits!

Really? I thought you were going for the pun. You were close.
Goldfinger: This is Gold,Mr. Bond. All my life I've been in love with it colour, it's brilliance, it's divine heaviness.
Solitary Knight: I do love the original product! The weight, volume, gravity, sheer heftiness and feel of the pages.
I felt like I was tied down on a laser printer and just about to be correlated and stapled. ;D
Hopefully I got a check for the first two traits!
First off, they are passions, not traits. Secondly, you want two checks. :o
You're as bad as my players.

I think it is you good knight that gets checks as well, arbitrary and love bond, because that was nowhere near close.

Haha, I'll have to remember that next time I'm a player.
