In the section on Other Family Members, it says the following:
Note: If the total number of your father’s and mother’s
brothers is less than the number of middle-aged family
knights, add enough brothers to reach the correct number.
Roll on the Old Knights table for each of these additional
siblings.
I don't understand this.
The Old Knights table tells you whether an old knight is your grandfather's brother or illegitimate brother. If I've added brothers to reach the correct number already, why am I rolling to see if they're my grandfather's brothers? Or am I just rolling to see if they're legitimate or not?

I think you are right, in that you are only rolling for legitimacy. So you can ignore the "grandfather's bit and place it with father or mother.
D20
01-15 legitimate
16-20 illegitimate
So one quarter of the knights in Salisibury are bastards. ;)

1/4 of the extra knights not accounted for in the earlier rolls, so it's les sthan 1/4.
Still plenty - but that doesn't seem too unrealistic!

Looking at it again, though, I would actually have already determined that they were legitimate, otherwise they wouldn't have come up in this step. I think the whole sentence about the Old Knights Table is just wrong.

i for one am willing to accept that. I've not scrutinized this but after reading the amount of confusion about it I will take a closer look when I have a bit of time.

Thank you! I hope you don't take *my* confusion as being too indicative. It may just be a problem on my end, not in the text.
Anyway, thank you very much for writing this game. I've really enjoyed reading it and the GPC. We've only played one session so far (the introductory scenario), but I enjoyed that quite a bit. My players all really internalized a hatred of Saxons just going through the Family History before they had even started on their actual characters. I've also enjoyed Runequest and Hero Wars quite a bit in the past.
